Employment Consultant Denise Nickerson is the Shelburne County representative for WNIES, and works with clients out of Shelburne, Barrington and Lockeport locations. She works with her clients to determine their long-term employment goals and the necessary steps needed to achieve them.

Denise was born and raised on Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia but moved to Toronto, Ontario to pursue her educational goals. In 2004 she graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honors Bachelor of Arts Degree in the Co-Operative Arts Management Program.

Before joining WNIES in 2006, Denise worked in a variety of fields, particularly in arts organizations and other non-profit organizations such as the Barrington Youth Services Centre. Here she gained many of the skills that carried over into her position at WNIES, including résumé and cover letter development, job search skills, etc.

Along with her regular Employment Consultant duties, Denise enjoys participating in local boards and committees. She is currently an executive board member of the Shelburne County Learning Network and Shelburne County Accessible Transportation, and is a member of the Shelburne County Career Connections committee.

Denise believes the most rewarding part of her work is when a client secures employment in a position they love.
